Leg lifts is a great exercise for building strong six pack abs.  It is easy to do and is really good for your lower abdominal muscles.  As a beginner you can just do the leg lifts normally, but it would be more intense abs workout if you do it with the ball like in the video.  Alternatively you can hold dumbbells with your feet doing the leg lift exercise for more experienced trainers.

Steps

  1. Lie on the floor, legs straight out, hands at your sides or under your lower back for support.
  2. If you are not a beginner, you can can grab an exercise ball with your feet. (pros can use dumbbells or weights)
  3. Lift your legs straight up (not bending your knees at all) until they're at a ninety degree angle (or close).
  4. Lower your legs and repeat without letting your legs touch the floor.
  5. Do 4 sets of 12 or as much as needed.
Tips

Also for more challenge there is weighted equipment at most of the gyms that you can hold in between your left foot and your right foot as you do this lift/raise of the legs to "work" your abdominal group of muscle. Such equipment is often known as "medicine ball". Now, what you should for more challenge is start with a smaller equipment ball, such as that of weight 3 kilograms. And then, after this is not too much of a challenge for you to lift anymore, you may progress to lift a slightly heavier gym equipment ball, such as 5 kilograms. Please pay attention to the section of warnings in regard to this "step up" of exercise.

Warning

Warnings for the increase of challenge of exercise of the Abdominal muscle group with ball equipment: do be careful, especially when you are first trying this new challenge to the exercise of lift/raise of the leg, for you not to drop the ball on to your abdominals as you lift/raise your legs. If such an event is to occur, pain and embarrassment shall be to follow.


Remember:

Just by doing abs exercises like the leg lifts, is not enough to get ripped six pack abs.  You need the right combination of abs exercises, cardio exercises, diet etc. to get ripped abs.  If you are serious about getting six pack abs, you should learn the truth about six pack abs.
